DEFENDER Michael Johnson has signed a two year contract at Bangor City after being released by Tranmere Rovers.

Johnson has become a favourite at Farrar Road during his season's loan and Bangor manager Neville :Powell moved quickly to head off interest by several other clubs for the cultured defender.

"Michael could have gone to other clubs for more money but has enjoyed his time with Bangor and wants to be part of the exciting future at Farrar Road," said Powell.

Meanwhile, the Bangor boss told clubs reportedly chasing striker Ashley Stott that they were wasting their time.

"Stottie's also happy here and is under contract until the end of next season," added Powell, who will be speaking to on loan Southport striker Karl Noon when he returns from holiday.

"All the lads are looking forward to playing in Europe and the fact that they all want to stay at Bangor is an endorsement at what we are doing."

Peter Hoy is set to miss the first four matches of next season after being dismissed in the Welsh Cup final against Llanelli.
