The hosts went two up on 51 minutes after Smith's legs denied Danny Thomas just ten yards out, but from the resultant flag kick on the left, Tim Hicks flicked on for the unmarked Thomas to head home his second from close range.
Smith denied Paul Keddle ten minutes later, while Sasha Walters was lucky to receive just a yellow from referee Mark Whitby by hauling down Limbert with a text book rugby tackle as he broke down the left.
City were thrown a lifeline on 74 minutes when a Coombes challenge on Limbert was punished by a penalty but Noon put his shot too near to keeper Neil Thomas who saved to his left.
A minute later, Stott put a measured effort from the edge of the box inches wide, but Smith denied Hicks at the other end following a slip by Lee Webber.
City pressed for a goal in the closing ten minutes, Noon set up Walsh but his 15 yard effort went the wrong side of the upright, but Davies released Limbert on 86 minutes and the City skipper slipped the ball past Thomas from fifteen yards.
