JUST two matches involving sides from North West Wales survived the downpour at the weekend, as most fixtures were hit by waterlogged pitches.
In the third round of the Barritt Cup, Caernarfon Town’s revival continued with a hard fought 2-0 win over Barmouth and Dyffryn United at the Oval.
Skipper Dylan Owen finally broke the deadlock just before the hour as he rifled in a long range drive, and the recently signed Gareth Owen continued his purple patch since signing for the Canaries as he added the second.
Division Two leaders Caernarfon Wanderers recorded their eighth win in ten league games, taking three points from their visit to Greenfield.
The Wanderers were a goal down at the break as Sean Pritchard broke the deadlock five minutes before half time, but the second have belonged to the Caernarfon outfit as they rattled in four. Dillon Parry levelled in the 67th minute before doubling his tally moments later.
Jason Sadler then added a third and Dillon Peters wrapped things up eight minutes from time, though Lee Taylor bagged a late consolation for Greenfield.
Postponed games included Bethesda Athletic’s second round Cookson Cup game at home to Gwalchmai, the Division One meetings between Glan Conwy and Holyhead Hotspur, Llanberis and Pwllheli and Llanfairpwll and Llanrug Utd, and the Take Stock Division Two Cup fixtures between Amlwch Town and Gaerwen P and Bodedern versus Penmaenmawr Phoenix.
A full program of games is scheduled for this weekend beginning on Friday night with Spurs versus Pwllheli (7.30pm).
Then on Saturday Bethesda host Holywell in the second round of the Barritt Cup whilst Llanrug United host Llanberis in round three (both 1.45pm).
In Division One Gwalchmai head to Barmouth and Dyffryn, with Llanfairpwll at Denbigh Town and Caernarfon Town at Llandudno Junction (all 2pm).
Finally in Division Two Amlwch Town head to Halkyn United, Gaerwen visit Nantlle Vale and Penmaenmawr Phoenix host Bodedern (all 2pm) .
