THE fact that there had been a gap of six weeks in playing was evident for both sides with several ‘timing’ errors, especially during the first quarter of this Swalec Plate Round Two match.

After that period, perhaps the neutral person would describe the game as being an entertaining match to watch.

Llangefni found themselves behind as the hosts made some early scores, but powered over the Nant line towards half time as Mark Pritchard went over, with Carwyn Milburn converting to make the score 12-7 at the break.

After several minutes of pressure on the Llangefni line at the beginning of the second half, the hosts scored again and though Carwyn Milburn was successful with a penalty attempt, the hosts pulled away towards the end.

Llangefni are back in league action this Saturday with a home fixture against Ruthin.

Division One North
BOTH Caernarfon and Bethesda’s games were postponed, meaning that the Cofis will be back in action at Llandudno this Saturday, whilst Bethesda visit second placed Mold.

Bangor 9 Dolgellau 29
A DOMINANT first half showing from Bangor in Division Two North yielded two Jonni Hughes penalties to give them a 6-5 half time lead after the visitors crossed the line against the run of play.

However, despite Hughes completing a hat-trick of penalties just after the restart, the hosts imploded and conceded four more tries and two conversions.

Bangor’s next match sees them host Welshpool on Saturday (2.30pm).

Llangoed 31 Flint 0
THE Anglesey village side made a great start to 2011 by thrashing the visitors by five tries to nil, and taking revenge for their 2010 51-0 hammering at Flint.

First to cross the Flint line after ten minutes was centre Henri Jacobs bursting through four would-be tacklers for Robert Roberts to add the conversion.

Captain Huw Roberts then ploughed his considerable frame through a previously tight Flint defence to feed Jacobs for his second try, with further second half scores following for centre Emlyn Williams, Roberts and skipper Huw Roberts.

On Saturday Llangoed travel to Llangollen.

Menai Bridge 8 Rhosllanerchrugog 7
BRIDGE’S 100 per cent record was maintained with this narrow home win, but only just.

A high tempo first half yielded no score as both sides cancelled each other out and it was Rhos who drew first blood in the second half with a converted try.

the final 20 minutes saw the hosts up their game as Iwan Jones scored a penalty, and despite having wing Joe Brogden sin-binned for killing the ball, Bridge scored from a scrum.

The ball was whipped out to full back Mathew Baston who broke the line and fed winger Jamie Hughes to score. The league leaders are away to Harlech this Saturday.
