NEV Powell’s Bangor City enjoyed one of Welsh football’s finest hours as Chris Jones’s 90th minute strike made them the first side from the nation ever to reach the third round of a UEFA competition.

Having battled to a fine one all draw last week in Finland City finished the job at the Racecourse last night (Thurs).

The Blues had to come from behind after Sampo Kokinen fired the Espoo outfit ahead in the 21st minute, and the Finns looked to be headed for a third round tie with Maritimo.

However experienced midfielder Dave Morley levelled with just six minutes to go before Jones got on the end of a Nicky Ward cross to net a sensational winner seconds before the final whistle.

As a result City face a trip to Maderia to meet Liga Sagres club Maritimo to contest a spot in the group stages.
