HAVING put together a squad with a blend of youth and experience, new Glantraeth bosses Kev O'Neill and Chris Roberts have kicked off pre-season training in preparation for the friendly visit of Llandegfan on July 13 (6.30pm).
A total of 18 players are now on the club books with more expected to follow, and the island side achieved somewhat of a coup by securing the signature of one of last term’s leading scorers in Gwynedd football.
Ian Pleming, who turned out for Caernarfon and District side Mountain Rangers, will lead the line for Glan next term along with 22 year old forward Rhys Evans from Llanfairpwll.
Centre half and former Glantraeth skipper Gwyn Owen, 28, and evergreen striker Billy Evans, 35, have also signed up, as have midfielder Kieran Lewis, 26, from Gaerwen and 24 year old midfielder Ian Owen, previously been with Caernarfon Borough and Caernarfon Town.
Other acquisitions making up the squad include stoppers Matthew Scowen, 25, Gwyndaf Davies, 24, and Kelvin Evans from Gaerwen, 30, as well as Jamie Roberts, 22.
Cefni’s management duo are also clearly building for the future, taking on three youngsters from the town after they impressed in training, namely Matty Barley from Penrhos, and Matthew Williams and James Ross from Llangefni Town Juniors.
