BANGOR returned to winning ways in the North Wales Cricket Premier Division with a six-wicket victory over Brymbo.

City made the long journey to Wrexham looking to bounce back after last week’s defeat to Llandudno, and Jamie Roberts’ two early wickets set them on the road to victory.

The Bangor bowling attack then managed to take three wickets for just four runs, with Humayan Afridi claiming his first of his three wickets as the Brymbo batting order collapsed.

Bangor bowled out their opponents for 132, and despite losing opener Matthew Jackson and Robert Marshall early on, Gwilym Lloyd Jones’ knock of 63 steadied the ship to help the visitors on their way.

David Winter’s 30 pushed Bangor over the line to leave them in fourth position.
Bangor’s next hurdle is a difficult one against high flying Mold on Saturday.

Menai Bridge also had a good weekend with a convincing 96 run victory over St. Asaph.

Playing at their Elwy Grove Park home, Bridge won the toss and racked up a respectable 193 runs all out.

Devastating bowling won the day as St. Asaph lasted just 39 overs as they were skittled out for 96.

Menai are now right behind Bangor in fifth position and also have a tough assignment when they travel to Brymbo on Saturday.
