WELSH Premier League manager of the month Nev Powell hopes his side’s superb form will continue against title chasers Llanelli on Saturday.
The Bangor City boss, awarded for leading the Blues to four December wins in four before beating Elements Cefn Druids 3-1 last Friday, is preparing the Blues for a tough afternoon at Stebonheath Park (2.30pm K.O.).
He said: “Saturday’s going to be difficult as Llanelli are not at the top for the wrong reasons.
“They’re a good side and are playing on their own patch, so we’ve got to be cautious.”
However, Powell has a quiet confidence in his side, and paid tribute to their recent performances.
He added: “We’ve had a good run and all credit to the players, it’s the players who get you awards such as these with what they do on the pitch.
“We had a poor run at the start of the season but the players got their heads down and started working harder and playing better and everyone at the club deserves a pat on the back for a good couple of months.
“We’re just taking one game at a time, we have a couple of big games coming up with Llanelli and Rhyl as well as the Welsh Cup match, and we need to keep working hard.”
A Chris Sharp hat-trick led City to their fifth straight win last Friday over the Ancients, and Powell explained that they delivered exactly what he wanted.
He said: “It was difficult because the side hadn’t played for three weeks so it was like starting the season again!
“Going into Friday’s game I just wanted the three points and that’s what we got.”
Bangor have a clean bill of health for Saturday aside from fullback Dave Swanick and Les Davies, although the ‘runaway truck’ is now back in light training.
