Fixtures for Saturday, January 16 (all games 2.30pm k.o. unless stated).

Denbigh Town V Caernarfon Town

THE Canaries face a big game at Denbigh Town as they seek to move away from the bottom end of the Cymru Alliance.

Having lost ten of 17 games the Oval outfit sit just a point ahead of second bottom Holyhead Hotspur, who also have a game in hand.

However three points from the match at Denbigh, who have lost at home three times so far this term, could see them move up several places in the league and away, at least temporarily, from the bottom end.

Success for the Cofis may depend on the performance of forward John Rowley, who has found the back of the net nine times in 17 games.

Holyhead Hotspur v Flint Town United (2pm)

LEAGUE leaders Flint Town visit the New Stadium looking to maintain their four point gap over Llangefni, but Spurs themselves will surely be looking to prove a point in this fixture.

Having finished runners up in the league last season the Harbourmen will be desperate to prove they are still a force to be reckoned with by beating United.

In order to do so Holyhead will need to stop marksman Shaun Beck, who currently leads the Alliance’s goalscoring chart with 17.

Beck, the league’s 2008/09 player of the season, has played a key role in shooting Flint to the top of the shop and hit a hat-trick against the New Stadium outfit in their last meeting.

In addition Spurs will have to do without the suspended trio of Kenleigh Owen, Chris Saxon and Curt Williams.

As a result, the Silkmen will prove a difficult challenge for Spurs but a home win might give the club a major boost in a disappointing campaign.

Spurs chief Marc Williams said: “We hope that after a blip against Guilsfield we can get back on track.

“Everybody is saying we’re in a false position but it’s up to the players to prove it with their performances.”

Mold Alex v Bethesda Athletic

OVER the course of what has been a remarkable debut season in the Cymru Alliance thus far, the Latics have been one of the most entertaining sides in the division with a number of high scoring contests.

And Alyn Park just might turn out to be the venue for another high scoring contest as Pesda pay a visit to fellow mid table side Mold.

It’s been win or bust for the hosts at home so far this season with five wins and four defeats, so the Gwynedd side know that if they get Mold on a bad day the points just might be there for the taking.

Penrhyncoch v Llanfair PG

WITH just five wins in 16 Llanfair PG need to start the New Year with a couple of wins, but will be hard pressed to do so at Cae Barker. The contest just might prove to be a battle of the strikers as Llanfair’s Iwan Williams looks to improve on his 11 goals tally, whilst the Island side will need to prevent Richard Evans from scoring his 11th.

Ruthin Town v Llangefni Town

ALTHOUGH Cefni will be hoping for a home win at the Oval as Caernarfon host Flint, they will need to keep up the pressure with a ruthless performance at the Memorial Playing Fields.

Leading scorer Darren Thomas will go hunting for his 14th of the season against the Ruths whilst the memories of a Bank Holiday derby defeat at the hands of Spurs also need to be banished.
