HOLYHEAD Hotspur striker Marc Evans made an instant impact to help his side secure a 3-3 home draw with Buckley Town.

The prolific forward arrived back from a stint in New Zealand playing for Melville United last week and popped up late on to secure a share of the spoils for the Holy Islanders, who face a tricky JD Welsh Cup first round tie at home to Welsh National League (Wrexham Area) high flyers Corwen on Saturday (2.30pm).

The visitors started the game on the front foot and opened the scoring after just three minutes when a Phil Molyneux header found its way past Dan Williams, and things went from bad to worse for Darren Garmey’s side soon after thanks to a similar goal courtesy of Josh Jones with 26 gone.

This finally sprung the home side into life, and they got themselves back into the contest a minute after the half hour mark when John Littlemore slotted into the net from close range following some impressive individual skill to create the opportunity from Harry Galeotti.

After the break saw the hosts come out with a renewed sense of purpose and they managed to level proceedings on 49 minutes when an intricate passage of play saw Mel McGinness find some space, and the gifted playmaker teed up Luke McGivern for the simple finish.

Williams had to be at his best to deny the visitors on a number of occasions midway through the half, but he could do nothing to prevent Town from restoring their advantage after 70 minutes when the in-form Adam Eden produced a sensational effort that nestled inside the far post.

The introduction of Evans following the setback proved to be a shrewd move from Garmey, with the former Llandudno hotshot equalising on 88 minutes after he latched on to a McGinness through ball, and he almost sealed all three points in stoppage time when he hit the target once again, but his effort was ruled out for offside.
