CAERNARFON Town picked up another valuable point to continue their fine start to JD Welsh Premier League life thanks to a 1-1 draw at Cefn Druids.

The Canaries remain in the top six after another resolute display that could easily have seen them claim all three points from the contest, and Sean Eardley’s side face another stern test of their credentials this Friday when they welcome Bala Town to The Oval in front of the S4C Sgorio cameras (7.45pm).

The visitors gradually settled into the game and they were denied a goalscoring opportunity when Jamie Breese was brought down by stopper Joel Thompson just outside the area and was fortunate to escape with just a booking.

Breese was in the thick of the action once again soon after when he diverted a Danny Brookwell cross into the net on 19 minutes, but the effort was chalked off for offside.

Huw Griffiths’ men grew in confidence as the half progressed and they were rewarded for their improved play on 28 minutes when Neil Ashton found space in the six-yard box following a corner and make no mistake with his header.

The Ancients were now in the ascendancy and should have doubled their tally soon after when Arkadiusz Piskorski fluffed his lines after some neat build-up play, and Matty Owen’s long-range strike sailed over during a dominant spell.

Jamie Crowther, Breese and the outstanding Noah Edwards all missed chances for the Cofis just before the break, but a moment of inspiration from Brookwell after the interval got them back on level terms.

The talented forward brought down a long ball from goalkeeper Alex Ramsay before producing a powerful drive that beat Thompson at his near post after 58 minutes.

This resulted in the away side dominating proceedings from then on, but Edwards, Crowther and Sion Bradley all failed to find an elusive winner to ensure both sides went home with a share of the spoils.
