NEFYN United moved into second position in the Gwynedd League standings after an eye-catching 3-2 home success over Bro Goronwy.

The title hopefuls are now three points behind early pacesetters Menai Bridge Tigers with a game in hand, and they went ahead after 31 minutes when Dylan Sion finished well for his first of the afternoon.

This provoked a strong response from last season’s runners-up and they levelled matters after 42 minutes when Andy Williams found the net, and things got even better for the away side after the interval when Dan Mairhead put them ahead for the first time in the contest.

United responded well to the setback and equalised midway through the half when Sion notched his second of the game, and the same player rounded off an exceptional individual display to fire in his third on 80 and secure an impressive win for the hosts.

A brace apiece from Matty Owen and Cian Owen ensured Llangoed and Gwalchmai were able to share the spoils in a 2-2 stalemate, with Guto Williams and Jac Evans on target for Waunfawr in their 2-1 home victory over Bontnewydd, who ran out of time in the closing stages after Cai Williams netted with 86 gone.
