CAERNARFON Town boss Sean Eardley lauded his side after they secured an impressive 1-0 win at Cardiff Met.

The Canaries have made a superb start to JD Welsh Premier League life and fought hard for their second win in three outings, but they face a stern test of their credentials this Friday when they welcome champions The New Saints of Oswestry Town to The Oval (7.45pm).

Eardley, said: “It was a very satisfying performance, the lads were fantastic and I couldn’t ask for anymore from them.

“Met are a good team with some very good technical players and they are going to be there or thereabouts in terms of the top six, so I want the players to enjoy it and the fans who made the effort to come down in treacherous conditions, which was fantastic.

“I thought we showed incredible bravery and were also brave when we won the ball back, we asked them plenty of questions without creating too many chances and everyone worked their socks off, so I am made up.

“There are some aching bodies but we have to fight through it, and of course we are going to freshen things up but I believe in my squad and everyone involved will do a job. If they continue to show the same effort then nobody is going to push us around.

“I said in preseason we don’t want to make the numbers up in this league. We are a good football team and as long as the listen and do their specific jobs then we have the personnel to hurt teams. Our quality has really shone through and we can go into every game knowing we can compete.”

A tight contest was settled on 44 minutes when skipper Nathan Craig converted a penalty after full-back Joe Williams had been felled in the box, with Daniel Spencer coming closest to levelling for the home side after the break during a tireless display from the Cofis.
