NANTLLE Vale head the early Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One standings after a thumping 6-1 victory over title hopefuls Llandudno Albion.

Last season’s strugglers have been a hugely impressive start to the current campaign, winning all of their opening five matches during what has been s scintillating start to the season.

A brace apiece from Sion Williams and Gavin Edwards did the majority of the damage, with Daniel Evans and Rob Daniels also on target during the rout.

Llangefni Town are hot on their heels after securing a narrow 3-2 win at newly promoted Prestatyn Sports.

The home side gave the promotion hopefuls a huge scare during a highly competitive contest, but it was the away side who drew first blood when recent signing Kevin Lloyd finished well after 12 minutes.

This provoked a strong response from the hosts, who levelled matters immediately following the restart when Kris Owen converted a chance on 13 minutes, only for Lloyd to strike again just before the break with 42 gone.

After the break saw Mark Hughes and John Hargreaves’ side come out with a renewed sense of purpose and summer acquisition Darren Cassidy was on hand to equalise again on 47 minutes after a period of pressure, but Cefni netted again after 70 when Dan Thomas finished well.

A treble from Eric Leach was the highlight of Bodedern Athletic’s 6-1 rout over Llanberis with prolific forward Steven Whittaker continuing his excellent start to the season with a brace.

Jamie Whitmore’s effort on 75 minutes was enough to secure a 1-1 draw for Mynydd Llandegai at Greenfield, with a hat-trick from Aaron Hughes sealing a 3-1 home triumph for Llanrug United against St Asaph City.
