PROSPECTIVE Inter Games 2019 host clubs on Anglesey are set to have their facilities visited and assessed by the tournament’s organising committee in the coming weeks.

With the deadline to express an interest in hosting matches or training sessions at next summer’s tournament passing on August 1, a total of 12 clubs across the island have put themselves forward as potential hosts for the tournament, set to take place in June next year.

Ynys Mon 2019 Project Manager Gareth Parry will lead a delegation that will visit each potential candidate over in the near future, with a decision on venues set to be confirmed later this year.

Mr Parry, said: “This is a very exciting time for everyone involved in the 2019 tournament, and we’re delighted to have 12 clubs put themselves forwards as potential hosts for matches and training sessions.

“We’ll be assessing the clubs on a number of criteria, from the more fundamental things such as pitch quality and the size of the changing room, to practical elements such as what basic hospitality they can provide to the visiting islands, which is always very much appreciated.

“We’ve got the potential as an island to put on a fantastic show with this tournament, and we’re really looking forward to visiting these 12 clubs to share our enthusiasm and take another step towards putting together a competition that Wales, not just Anglesey, can be proud of.”

Manager Campbell Harrison and assistant Iwan Williams will find out their opponents for the tournament next month, with official confirmation of all participants expected towards the end of September.
