BONTNEWYDD bounced back from their opening day defeat with a narrow 3-2 home win over Nefyn United.

The Gwynedd League rivals produced a thrilling encounter and it was the visitors that went ahead on ten minutes when Guto Sion Roberts converted a chance, but Bont responded well to the setback and levelled matter a minute before the break when Dion Davies finished well following a prolonged spell of possession.

After the interval saw the hosts go ahead for the first time when Ian Pleming’s composed finish gave them a slender lead after 73 minutes, and they doubled their tally soon after when Cai Penny Williams stroked home on 83.

Josh Dorking’s stoppage time strike for the away side ensured a nervy end to the contest, but Bont held firm for their first victory of the season at the second time of asking.

Talysarn Cekts got their first point on the board thanks to a 1-1 home draw with Llanystumdwy.

Jac Jones looked to have sealed all three points for the hosts when his superb strike gave them the lead on 35 minutes, and they held this advantage until the closing stages when Darren Parry rescued a share of the spoils for Llan on 80.
