A STUNNING performance from Nadeem Rehman guided Bangor to a seven-wicket victory at North Wales Cricket League Premier Division rivals Hawarden Park.

The talented all-rounder was at his brilliant best to lead the 2017 champions to a comfortable triumph, and the result sees them move into fifth spot in the standings ahead of their trip to Denbigh on Saturday.

Rehman made an instant impact with the prized wicket of opener Jared Bennett for nine, and Jonny Wells got in on the act soon after when he trapped wicketkeeper Luke Bennett lbw for 16.

David Hughes provided some resistance before he was clean bowled by Rehman after contributing 27, and the same bowler also despatched Adam Cross (17), Tom Norris (0) and Chris Wharton (0) throughout the innings to end the day with a five-wicket haul for the loss of just 15 runs.

He was aided at the other end by Subhan Khan, who disposed of top scorer Jo Forde (35) and Joshua Foulkes (1) to finish on 2-22, with Matt Kelly also claiming a pair at the expense of 15 runs as the home side were all out for 156 after 41 overs in the middle.

Things did not begin well at the crease for the visitors as Sion Evans was dismissed by Forde for a duck, and Khan made just one before he was skittled by Michael Wootton.

Idrees Ijaz made a promising 37 until he was superbly run out by Foulkes, but a standout partnership from Rehman and skipper Robbie Marshall ensured the away side got over the line with minimal fuss during the midway point of the innings.

Rehman was in blistering form throughout on his way to an unbeaten 71, with Marshall securing 35 not out as the target was secured after 34 overs of play.
