BRO Goronwy got their Gwynedd League title challenge off to a flyer thanks to a 3-0 triumph at Talysarn Celts.

Last season’s runners-up found one too good last term in Holyhead Town, but hopes for some silverware are high this time around and they opened the scoring after 25 minutes when Dylan Jones converted a chance following a dominant spell of pressure.

The visitors doubled their advantage just before the break when Jac Thomas finished well, and Bro sealed the win late on when Liam Griffiths notched a third on 82 minutes.

Gwalchmai turned in a polished display to secure an eye-catching 4-1 home win over Bontnewydd.

A hat-trick from the impressive Dyfed Griffiths did the majority of the damage, with Steve Smith rounding off the scoring on 67 minutes for the hosts.

Menai Bridge Tigers are quietly fancied to make a marked improvement on their fortunes this season, and they began with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Llanystumdwy.

Marry Jones got them off to the best possible start with a neat finish after 16 minutes, and the home side held firm in the face of some stern pressure before doubling their advantage on 81 through Dave Baston.

In the only other fixture of the day, goals from Daniel Roberts and Gethin Trenholme either side of half time guided Nefyn United to a narrow 2-1 win over Llangoed, who took the lead through Nathan Jones on the half hour mark.
