LLANDUDNO Albion got their Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division promotion push off to a flyer with a 4-0 home win over Greenfield.

Prolific forward Dave Maddock put the hosts ahead with a well-taken effort on 11 minutes, before gifted playmaker Ricky Jones doubled their advantage following another period of pressure after the break on 63.

Darren Jones’ side sealed the points after 74 minutes when Luke Smith converted an opportunity, and new signing Lee Ellis marked his competitive debut with a goal in stoppage time to complete the rout.

There was no such luck for Llandudno Junction, who fell to a 2-0 loss at Nantlle Vale thanks to goals from Gerwyn Williams and Daniel Ellis, and Llanrwst United also suffered a 2-0 reverse on their travels as Aled Hughes and Tom Smith led Penrhyndeudraeth to an opening day success.

Division Two title favourites Glan Conwy began the season in style thanks to a hard-fought 2-1 triumph at Aberffraw.

The home side took a shock lead on 18 minutes when Nathan Moore netted against the run of play, but Richard Orme steered home a chance to ensure both sides had all to play for at the interval.

After the break saw Jamie Jones break clear and finish well after 57 minutes to put Glan ahead for the first time in the contest, and the visitors managed to see out the remainder of the game to claim their first three points of the campaign.

Scott Roberts scored the only goal of the game for Mochdre Sports in their 1-0 victory at Gaerwen, with Julian Clearly opening the scoring for Penmaenmawr Phoenix in their 1-1 home draw with Y Felinheli.
