Denbigh Town vs Gresford Athletic:

Both sides have been very active during the summer with squad overhauls that gives them plenty of hope for a fine campaign ahead, and I expect this to be decided by the slimmest of margins given the relative similarity in standard between the two squads.

Town striker Mark Roberts has hit the ground running during pre-season on his return to the club and much will be expected of the energetic forward this season, with former Denbigh star Jake Eyre looking to put one over on his former side at the first time of asking.

Prediction: Denbigh Town 2-1 Gresford Athletic

Holywell Town vs Ruthin Town:

The new-look Wellmen entertain a well-drilled Ruthin side, who have one of the brightest young managers anywhere in the region in Chris Williams and league top scorer Llyr Morris, who turned down a host of different offers from bigger clubs to remain within the set-up.

Gareth Sudlow’s men have lost Shaun Pearson and Steve Thomas to Llandudno, and the presence of Steve Lewis up front has been replaced by Damian Ketley so it will be interesting to see how they fare first time out against the new regime.

Prediction: Holywell Town 1-1 Ruthin Town

Bangor City vs Buckley Town: The Citizens will take on a Buckley side that have nothing to lose going into their first fixture, and they have a winning mentality having earned promotion last term so the home side can take nothing for granted.

That being said, Craig Harrison has an embarrassment of riches at their disposal and it would be a huge shock if they did not secure a comfortable victory to begin their expected title challenge.

Prediction: Bangor City 3-0 Buckley Town

Conwy Borough vs Guilsfield:

The Tangerines have been handed a tricky first fixture on their return to the second tier, with the Guils’ continuing to defy the odds once again last season thanks to their sensational work ethic and disciple.

Losing Asa Hamilton to Airbus Broughton is a massive blow to them and it is going to be interesting to see how they cope without him and how they deal with a ferocious Boro’ attacking threat that features Corrig McGonigle, Dean Seager and Lee Thomas.

Prediction: Conwy Borough 3-2 Guilsfield

Flint Town United vs Holyhead Hotspur:

Plenty of shred judges are tipping the Silkmen for great things this season in Niall McGuinness’ first full season in charge, but they will need to be at their best to get a win against a Holy Islanders’ outfit who are going to improve significantly under Darren Garmey.

United will need to gel quickly to avoid the disappointment and considerable underachievement of last season, and home advantage might be the thing that separates these two well-matched sides on the opening day.

Prediction: Flint Town United 3-1 Holyhead Hotspur

Llanrhaeadr YM vs Rhyl:

The Lilywhites are another of the fancied sides after making a plethora of standout acquisitions during a busy summer of transfer activity, and they should be confident of emerging from their long trip to Llanrhaeadr with three points.

The newly promoted side have been largely written off before a ball has been kicked in the second tier, so they can play without pressure but might not have the quality within their side to cope with what the Lilies will undoubtedly throw at them.

Prediction: Llanrhaeadr YM 0-2 Rhyl

Penrhyncoch vs Porthmadog:

The Roosters ended the season in fine style last time out and this should give them plenty of encouragement for the challenges that lie ahead of them.

Luke Sherbon’s arrival adds a bit of quality they were lacking at times during the initial stages of the season, but Port are quietly fancied to do very well thanks to a number of shrewd signings including Warren Duckett, Jay Gibbs and Paul Pritchard.

Prediction: Penrhyncoch 1-1 Porthmadog

Prestatyn Town vs Airbus Broughton:

The Seasiders head into the new campaign with a lot to prove after losing all-but one of their squad from last season, with legendary captain Dave Hayes giving everyone a boost by coming out of retirement for the season ahead.

Opening games do not come much tougher than Airbus, who have invested heavily in the hopes of improving on their third-place finish last term and in Asa Hamilton they have one of the most dominant frontmen operating anywhere in the division.

Prediction: Prestatyn Town 0-1 Airbus Broughton
