HOLYHEAD Town rounded off their busy pre-season schedule with a 5-0 defeat at Caernarfon Town.

The Harbourmen stepped in a short notice to take on their JD Welsh Premier League opponents, and they produced an encouraging display ahead of their Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two opener at home to Amlwch Town on Wednesday, August 15.

The Cofis got off to a strong start and opened the scoring after eight minutes when Clive Williams headed home a Ben Maher corner, and they managed to double their advantage on 38 when striker Jamie Breese produced a composed finish on 38 after impressive approach play from former Porthmadog standout Sion Bradley.

After the break saw the away side go close with a pair of efforts during a rare spell of dominance, but the introduction of Cofis’ talisman Darren Thomas brought with it an instant reward as the playmaker teed up Breese for his second of the afternoon after his initial effort was saved.

This provoked another strong response from the Anglesey side, who failed to convert three good chances following the setback thanks in no small part to their sensational work rate and improved composure in possession.

They were made to pay for their inefficiency in front of goal midway through the second period when Thomas went from provider to scorer when he diverted a Joe Williams delivery into the net, and Bradley capped off an eye-catching individual display with his fifth after 79 minutes.
