CAERNARFON now occupy spot in the North Wales Cricket 2nd XI League West Division standings after a three-wicket win at Llandudno Seconds.

The home side set a target of 193-9 from their 40 overs at the crease, with wicketkeeper Ryan Bean producing a fine innings before he was skittled by Shamu Raza after making an eight-boundary score of 51.

He was aided at the other end by Lewis Pike, who fell one short of his half century from just 40 deliveries, but only Alex Owen (27) managed a score of note thereafter thanks to the impressive bowling from the Cofis.

Ian Morgan was the pick of the bowling attack, finishing with three wickets for the loss of 41 runs, with Raza claiming a pair of scalps at the expense of 31.

Morgan continued his fine form in the middle with a sensational knock to get the visitors over the line, with the talented all-rounder smashing 71 from 61 balls before he was eventually dismissed by Oliver Hughes, who ended the day as the Lions’ best bowler on 3-36.

Sameer Yusuf and Prysor Aled also contributed significantly to the away side’s eventual triumph with 36 apiece as they reached their target after the loss of seven wickets with five balls remaining.

The Cofis are back in action this Saturday when they travel to Dolgellau Seconds.
