BANGOR City finally have a new goalkeeper after Andy Coughlin was confirmed as the club’s number one ahead of the new season.

The Huws Gray Alliance side have taken their time to find the right replacement for talented stopper Matthew Hall, who decided to leave the Citizens following their demotion to the Huws Gray Alliance and is currently at Barclays Premier League side Cardiff City.

Coughlin has impressed new boss Craig Harrison during a series of pre-season friendly contests, and the former Tranmere Rovers and Wrexham Harrison, said: “It is great to get such an experienced goalkeeper in Andy. Having played almost 100 Conference games and also a full season of experience in the Huws Gray Alliance which will be invaluable this season.

“Andy is a big physical presence and an imposing figure. I’ve spoken to some of my best friends in football who have worked with Andy and they have said he is a great lad and a very good goalkeeper which he has shown in pre-season on more than one occasion.

“I’m looking forward to working with Andy and putting another piece of our defensive jigsaw which has great experience in it.”

City have also secured the services of talented teenager Elliot Fenton, with the 17-year-old forward also catching the eye throughout the summer which has seen him secure a senior deal at the VSM Stadium following a standout spell with the Academy.

He has plenty of ability having represented England’s youth futsal team and joins a gifted young core consisting of Alex Boss, Sam Jones, Sam Ashworth, Gethin Thomas and Leon Jones.

“Bringing players through the fantastic Academy and also attracting young talented from the surrounding areas is vital,” added Harrison.

“Elliot is a very skilful footballer and only just turning 17 has lots of development left in him.”
