BETHESDA remain on course for the North Wales Cricket League Division One title thanks to a convincing five-wicket home triumph over basement dwellers Conwy.

The visitors struggled with the bat in difficult conditions on their way to 102 all out, with skipper Jonathan Davies producing a top score of 33 before he eventually played a Kevin Evans delivery into the hands of Jonathan Williams.

This was not replicate by the rest of the batting order, with Gavin Mart (13) and Robert Gater (11) the only other batsmen to make it into double figures throughout their 37 overs at the crease as Evans finished with figures of 4-19 after an impressive spell.

Carwyn Williams also caught the eye on his way to three wickets for the loss of just 13 runs, with Sean Buchanan also claiming three victims at the expense of 35.

Pesda’s run chase began poorly when David Owen removed the dangerous duo of Dewi Roberts and Nicholas Parry for 15 and 13, with Stan Senior ousting Matthew Buchanan after the talented batsman made 16.

A 23 knock from Williams kept the scoreboard ticking over during a difficult spell for the home side, and Gavin Owen got them over the line with 15 as they reached their required total for the loss of five wickets after 30 overs of play.

The victory sees Pesda keep their slender one-point advantage over Pontblyddyn heading into their clash at Dolgellau on Saturday.
