BANGOR City boss Craig Harrison marked his first home game in charge with a creditable 2-2 draw against Wrexham.

The Citizens made an encouraging start and almost went in front on five minutes when Jacob Farleigh’s effort from long range failed to find the target after some outstanding individual work from Sam Dool.

Gradually the visitors began to impose themselves on proceedings and they went ahead on 25 minutes when Chris Holroyd finished well following a period of sustained pressure.

This provoked a strong response from the hosts, who levelled matters immediately following the restart when Tom Field converted from the penalty spot after Yalany Baio had been felled just inside the box.

Sam Ricketts’ men continued to probe throughout the remainder of the period, with Luke Young, Holroyd and Luke Summerfield all failing to convert good opportunities in the latter stages of the first half.

City stopper Harry Pickering had to be at his very best after the interval to deny Mike Fondop, Nicky Deverdics and James Jennings in quick succession following the restart, and Alex Darlington came into the fray after Baio was initially shown a red card for throwing the ball at a Wrexham player.

Deverdics was the next to spurn an opportunity but was indecisive before the ball swept up by the City keeper, with Les Davies getting the ball stuck under his feet at the other end to waste a chance for the hosts.

The introduction of Liam Griffiths brought a much-needed injection of pace for the home side, and the substitute made an instant impact after beating a number of visiting defenders before firing wide.

City got their noses in front for the first time in the contest on 66 minutes when Darlington produced a fine effort which found the corner, but the away side levelled after 82 when Fondop diverted a Leo Smith cross into the net to ensure both sides had something to show for their efforts.
