BANGOR City began a busy series of pre-season fixtures with a comfortable 2-0 win at Pwllheli.

Craig Harrison’s men took the field for the first time since their relegation from the JD Welsh Premier League, and the new-look squad turned in a positive display to emerge with bragging rights in front of a large crowd at the Welsh Alliance ground.

The Citizens began the game well and almost took the lead on nine minutes when returning hero Les Davies’ effort flew narrowly wide of the upright.

Despite controlling possession for the majority of the opening exchanges, the visitors failed to create a chance of note until midway through the half when Sam Barnes failed to convert a chance after good work from trialist and former New Saints of Oswestry Town star Jacob Farleigh.

Davies thought he has broken the deadlock on the half hour mark but his looping effort was chalked off for offside, with Farleigh next to go close when he forced a smart save from the home custodian after good work by Andy Jones.

After the break saw City finally seize the advantage when Farleigh drilled a left-footed effort into the corner following another prolonged period of possession, and skipper Tom Field almost doubled their tally soon after when his free-kick flew over the bar.

The introduction of Alex Boss proved an injection of pace into the City build-up, and he presented a pair of opportunities to Barnes and Sam Jones which they were unable to convert.

Boss was at the heart of the action once again on 81 minutes with another penetrating run at pace, and he showed the correct composure to provide trialist and England Futsal international Elliot Fenton with a chance, and the player made no mistake to net a second and complete the scoring.
