BANGOR City are facing a second winding up order next month as part of their ongoing dispute with the HMRC.

The Citizens, who were recently relegated from the JD Welsh Premier League after failing to obtain their FAW Domestic Licence, successfully survived an appeal from the HMRC on June 6 in relation to an overdue tax bill, but they have now launched a fresh bid in the High Court next month.

The club claimed the tax department were “making a mountain out of a molehill” in relation to the late payment, which missed the required deadline by a matter of days.

City now face an anxious wait before their date with a judge from the Old Bailey scheduled for August 12, just one day after their first game of the Huws Gray Alliance season against Buckley Town at the VSM Stadium.

Things have been looked promising during the offseason thanks to the appointment of trophy laden manager Craig Harrison, who is the most successful manager in WPL history thanks to his hugely successful spell with The New Saints of Oswestry Town.

He has brought in a host of big-name signings including Marc Williams, Phil Baker and hometown hero Les Davies, and also convinced senior squad members Alex Darlington and Luke Wall to stay on in the second tier.

No statement has yet been made by the club in relation to the latest HMRC petition.
