CONWY Borough have announced they are reforming their reserve team for the upcoming season.

The Tangerines decided on the move following their promotion to the Huws Gray Alliance after a memorable treble-winning campaign operating in the third tier, and they will be holding an open training session at Ysgol Aberconwy on Thursday, June 21 from 7pm.

The club's youth team has enjoyed two positive seasons in the NWCFA Youth League and the Welsh Premier Development League (North), and staff at the second tier side are eager to see the majority of their youth products progress into senior football and possibly into the first team via the new reserve development structure.

Manager Gareth Thomas has “strongly endorsed” the introduction of a reserve development squad and is “very supportive” of the club's commitment to attracting and retaining young local players, according to a spokesman.

A large number have already turned out at Y Morfa in the HGA, while a number starred for Boro in the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance last term.

A club spokesman, added: “As well as welcoming back members of last season's U19 squad the club is keen to see new faces, including youth players who want to step up to senior level and also young Adult players who already have experience of playing at senior level.

“Players will play and train under a one-club philosophy with training sessions on 3G facilities with all home fixtures to be played at Y Morfa Stadium where the well maintained surface is conducive to attractive football and is reliable enough to accommodate both the first team and reserve team without unnecessary postponements.”

Any players interested in taking part are urged to contact the club directly via email at conwyborough@outlook.com, stating their name, age, position, previous club and contact number.
