CAERNARFON Town manager Sean Eardley has been rewarded for a sensational first season in-charge with a special award.

The rookie boss took over at The Oval from Iwan Williams in November, and went on a lengthy unbeaten run that saw the Cofis clinch the Huws Gray Alliance championship and an elusive promotion to the JD Welsh Premier League.

This resulted in Eardley being crowned Manager of the Year at the league’s AGM, which was held at the home of Holyhead Hotspur on Saturday, June 9.

Eardley is a hugely popular figure both with the squad and throughout the North Wales football community, with his work with Llandudno’s Academy and Football in the Community initiatives drawing significant praise in recent years.

On receiving the award, Eardley tweeted: “Wow, brings to an end a fantastic chapter for me personally after five months in charge.

“Thank you so much to everybody who’s helped and supported me along the way, you know who you are. Here’s to the new challenge of the Welsh Premier League.”

A number of key figures for the Canaries have already signed contract extensions, including the likes of Darren Thomas, Gareth Evans, Clive Williams and skipper Nathan Craig.

Negotiations are currently taking place with potential new signings, with the Porthmadog pair of Sion Bradley and Cai Jones rumoured to be among his targets.
