ST ASAPH City have confirmed the appointment of Daniel Brewerton as their new manager.

The Saints confirmed the news earlier this week, with Brewerton joining the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One side from Rhyl Youth.

The new appointment, said: “I see St Asaph as a local club with great potential, when the club approached me I was very keen to speak with them and after a chat with the chairman we both felt that we would be a good fit for each other.

“They have a great committee that work hard behind the scenes and there is an abundance of talent within the existing squad so obviously I was delighted when they offered me the opportunity to take the role.”

Brewerton is keen to make his mark on a side that underachieved last season despite having plenty of talent at their disposal, and is hoping the players buy into his methods to ensure a turnaround in fortunes.

“I’ve always had a strong opinion on how I think the game should be played and usually my desire and determination rubs off on the players,” he added.

“I’d like to think the players will relish the opportunity to be part of something we can build on for years to come, previous managers and players have done amazing jobs in getting the club to where it is and I’m confident we can keep moving forward even more and grow the club as a whole.”

The new arrivals has wasted no time in making changes to the backroom staff, with Sam Brewerton coming into the fold as a player/coach and Matt Hiliker has been handed the role of assistant coach as the manager looks to “build a structure that can offer players a route to progress from junior/youth football all the way up to senior football”.

Brewerton also added that he will be speaking to members of the current squad in the coming days and is hoping they all stay on and re-affirm their commitment to the city side.
