BANGOR City manager Craig Harrison has wasted no time in strengthening his squad with the return of a cult hero.

The new boss announced at his introductory press conference that striker Les Davies has agreed to Davies is a fan favourite that has achieved legendary status at the VSM Stadium after a hugely successful spell, before moving on for spells with Connah’s Quay and Bala Town.

The target man is a huge physical presence that enjoyed a hugely successful first stint with the Citizens, making more than 220 appearances for the club and was nominated for the UEFA Player of the Year award in July 2012.

He moved to the Nomads for a five-figure sum before teaming up with Colin Caton at the Lakesiders, where he became a significant presence within the squad.

The hometown hero has now returned to the club and Harrison is confident Davies can play a huge role as City look to make an instant return to the JD Welsh Premier League.

He said: “I am delighted that Les has decided to come back to Bangor City. He is someone who will do a fantastic job and he is a bit of a nemesis in terms of he is very hard to play against.

“He is Bangor through-and-through and wants to get the club back to where it belongs. He is a strong building block from the front that we can build on, he is a Bangor supporter and club legend so it will be great to have him around.

“Those reasons are not why he decided to come back. He is here to score goals and Les is the best target man there is out there and certainly the best in the league we are playing in.”

The club also revealed that Harrison has been in discussions with a number of potential signings, with further announcements expected in the coming days.
