BANGOR turned in another dominant display to come away with an emphatic 147-run victory at Connah’s Quay.

The North Wales Cricket League Premier Division champions posted an impressive total that left their opponents with little chance of claiming something from the game, and Robbie Marshall’s side now occupy top spot ahead of the next clash against Denbigh on June 2.

The away side made a strong start to their time at the crease with a promising 22 from Sion Evans, while Nadeem Rehman contributed 21 before he was caught off a Scott Adams delivery.

In-form opener David Winter then turned the game on its head with another stylish knock, eventually falling victim to a Josh Clarke strike after a 15-boundary score of 86.

He was aided at the other end by Marshall, with the captain demonstrating his impressive shot selection on his way to 67, with Ethan Ray the only other Bangor batsman to make it into double figures as they ended their 50 overs at the crease on 250-6.

The visitors’ run defence got off to a great start as Matt Kelly took out the influential duo of Kieran Coppack and David Fox for a pair of ducks, and Waleed Idrees also got in on the act with the scalp of opener Matty Redinger for seven.

Kelly added to his collection soon after with the wickets of wicketkeeper Thomas Hooson (7) and skipper Darren Leach (1) to end the day with figures of 4-53, while Gareth Edwards also helped himself to three dismissals for the loss of 23 runs off just eight overs.

The home resistance came from the talented Scott Adams, who proved to be a stern presence in the middle until he was crucially removed by Rehman after making 52.

This proved to be the turning point as the hosts managed just 109 in reply, but there was no such luck for Bangor Seconds as they suffered a 52-run reverse to Brymbo.
