BANGOR City star Danny Holmes has left the club and signed for Connah’s Quay Nomads.

Holmes joins The Nomads on the back of a successful season in the JD Welsh Premier League with The Citizens, where he made 33 appearances and scored one goal.

Prior to his time at City, Holmes had two spells at Tranmere Rovers spanning a combined six seasons.

In between, he spent time at Southport and The New Saints, and before joining Bangor last season, Holmes has played for Fleetwood Town, Newport County, AFC Fylde and York City.

With more than 160 football league appearances, the defender arrives at Deeside Stadium with a wealth of experience, and will add to The Nomads' already experienced squad.

Quay boss Andy Morrison, said: "We're absolutely delighted to welcome Danny Holmes to Connah's Quay.

"For me, Danny was the outstanding full-back in the league last season and he further strengthens our squad going forwards."

This is the first of what is set to be an exodus of star names from City during the summer following their failure to obtain an FAW Domestic Licence despite finishing second in the top flight standings and securing a European place.

They will be plying their trade in the Huws Gray Alliance next season and will have a new management team in place later this week after boss Kevin Nicholson and assistant Gary Taylor-Fletcher decided to leave their respective positions.
