COLWYN Bay dropped more points in their Evo-stik North playoff push as they were held to a 1-1 home draw with Skelmersdale United.

The Seagulls failed to hold on to a lead after dominating the first period, and Alan Morgan’s men will look to get back to winning ways this Tuesday when they travel to Ramsbottom United, before making the trip to Glossop North End on Saturday.

Morgan, said: “I thought we did well first half and were in command, then second half we give an early goal away again. You can’t leave people free in the box – and it cost us.

“There was still loads and loads of time left after they scored, yet we kind of panicked when we needed to keep playing like we had been and pushing forward.

“We should have done better, but it’s a point in the bag and we go again Tuesday.

“On the plus side we got 90 minutes out of Danny Bartle and we’ll see how he is after that. I thought he was bright first half, but with so little football he was always going to fade as the game progressed.

“The plan was to take him off after an hour or so, but we couldn’t with the way the game went.”

The home side dictated proceedings early on and took the lead on 27 minutes when Bartle, who was making his first start since returning from injury, fired home his eighth goal of the season after some superb individual skill.

Astley Mulholland, Louis Barnes and Danny Andrews all missed good chances soon after, and they were made to pay after the break when visiting skipper Phil Mooney was left unmarked in the box, and he made no mistake with his effort on 52 minutes.

Substitute Tunde Owolobi rattled the crossbar for the away side to almost put them ahead, while at the other end Jamie Rainford’s strike crashed against the post in stoppage time as both side settled for a share of the spoils.
