A FRANTIC finish saw Holyhead Town rescue a point following a 3-3 draw at Gwynedd League rivals Beaumaris Town.

The title hopefuls drew first blood after a tight opening to proceedings, with Barry Lavelle opening the scoring with a neat finish after 26 minutes.

This joy proved to be short lived as the hosts responded well to the setback, and they managed to level matters on 35 minutes when Matty Jones struck following a prolonged spell of possession.

After the break saw the hosts get their noses in-front for the first time on 75 minutes when Callum Hughes found the net, but this was swiftly cancelled out by a Ricky Lavelle effort five minutes before the finish.

There was still time for further drama, and Beaumaris looked to have claimed all three points on 87 minutes when Darren Lewthwaite took advantage of some hesitant defending to slot home a third.

The Harbourmen were not to be denied a share of the spoils however, and immediately after the restart they got back on level terms once again through Ryan Lees on 88 minutes to ensure both sides had something to show for their efforts after a pulsating encounter.

The result leaves Holyhead three points behind long-time leaders Bro Goronwy with no more games in hand on their rivals.
