RGC return to competitive action this weekend when they travel to Llandovery.

The Gogs have enjoyed a standout campaign so far and currently sit joint top of the Principality Premiership standings after claiming the West crown.

They followed this up with an impressive success over Bridgend Ravens in their first fixture since the league reformed, but head coach Mark Jones will be hoping for an improvement on the performance that saw them ousted from the WRU National Cup at the hands of Ebbw Vale, a competition they famously won last season for the first time in their history.

It has been a busy few weeks at Stadiwm Zip World as the club looks to emulate their playoff spot achieved in their debut top flight season, and RGC received a further boost with the news that tighthead Sam Wainwright has been called up to the Wales U20 squad for the upcoming Six Nations.

The former Rhyl and District prospect has been one of the Gogs’ standout performers so far this season, and he is the only North Wales representative within the set-up.

Jones’ men will look top avenge their opening day reverse at the same venue against the Drovers, who currently sit in fourth spot and come into the game on the back of an impressive 38-9 cup victory over Llanelli.

Following Saturday’s clash the Gogs take on Neath, Carmarthen Quins and Swansea in three successive home fixtures, before travelling to Aberavon and Bargoed during a critical run of fixtures.
