BANGOR City have confirmed that long-serving player Damien Allen has been transferred to JD Welsh Premier League rivals Aberystwyth Town.

The midfielder began his career with Manchester United as a youngster, before featuring for Stockport County where he made 57 Football League appearances.

He then spent time on loan to Royal Antwerp in Belgium before joining Morecambe in August 2007. Further moves to Halifax, Bury and Colwyn Bay followed before signing for Bangor City in November 2011.

The 31-year-old marked his debut for the Citizens with the opening goal in a 5-0 win at Prestatyn Town in January 2012.

During his six-year stay at Nantporth, Allen made a total of 145 (plus six substitute) appearances in the top flight, scoring 11 goals.

His last appearance in a City shirt was in the 5-0 win over Bala Town on Friday, November 24, and he has been out of action since December after undergoing surgery on an injury problem.

Allen will team up once again with former City boss Nev Powell at Aber, who have been on a sensational run of late and currently find themselves seven points clear of the drop zone at the split.
