New Bangor City signing Levi Mackin

BANGOR CITY have continued their January transfer activity by making two further signings.

Nev Powell has secured the services of Chester FC midfielder Levi Mackin as well as former Coventry City youth striker Gary O’Toole, as the manager looks to fill the gap left by a number of recent departures.

Mackin, aged 26, is a combative centre midfielder and has gained Football Legaue experience in his time with Wrexham, before he went on to make appearances for Droylsden, York City and Alfreton Town.

Despite being born in England, Mackin is eligible to play for Wales, and has made appearances for the national side at under 17 and under 21 level.

25 year old striker Gary O’Toole joins having failed to secure a move to Malta, and despite late interest from Colwyn Bay FC, opted to move to The Book People Stadium.

Powell knows OToole well, having managed him during his tenure at Connah’s Quay Nomads.

Having started out at Coventry’s youth ranks, the predator’s journeyman career has taken him to Nomads, Caernarfon Town, Eastham, before returning to the Deeside stadium where he proved his undoubted eye for goal by winning the Huws Gray Alliance Golden Boot in 2010/11 and 2011/12.

The duo join fellow January signings, Kris Thomas, Robbie Booth and Jamie McDaid to Nantporth, and all except for Thomas (suspended) are eliglible for this weekend’s crunch cup tie against Connah’s Quay Nomads.

City will hope to banish the recent lacklustre form that has seen the Nantporth club drop to fourth in the Welsh Premier League.

The City defence will have their hands full with the attacking duo of Jamie Petrie and Rhys Healey, who have proved to be a revelation this season, finding the net on 28 occasions between them so far this campaign.

Neville Powell has a full squad to choose from, and with his new additions available, he will be hoping his side will prove too strong for the Deesiders.

Their Welsh Cup fourth round tie will be played at the Deeside Stadium this
Saturday January 26 (Kick off 2:30pm).
