Caernarfon 3 Nant Conwy 29

CAERNARFON bowed out of the Swalec Plate after this defeat by league leaders Nant Conwy.

Within 15 minutes the visitors were ahead after winger Grant Jones, who touched down out wide.

The Cofis’ Dafydd Roberts was then sinbinned, and Nant full-back Aeron Jones took full advantage by sidestepping a host of tackles to ground.

Ironically, he missed the conversion, but was on target when Gethin Jones scored Nant’s third.

Caernarfon were afforded a glimmer of hope when Kelvin Morris hit a penalty at the end of the first half.

The second half began with the hosts giving away a penalty try but got better as they put Nant under some heavy pressure.

Gethin Jones’ chargedown led to a breakaway try to seal the win.

WITH both sides missing players due to injury, Pesda produced a fine performance to notch their first win of the season in the North Wales Cup.

The hosts racked up a healthy 24-point lead by half time.

Arwyn Griffith scored twice, Lee Sherlock, Daniel Ogwen Jones, Dylan Hughes and James Roberts all touched down on one occasion, while Gareth Edwards kicked three conversions and Carwyn Williams notched a drop goal, as Pesda relished their break from League action.

Other result: Swalec Plate: Bro Ffestiniog 40 Llangefni 20.
