Huge turn-out for Conwy half marathon

MORE than 1,500 people took part in the Conwy Half Marathon on Sunday.

The award-winning race attracted was won by Eryri Harriers champion Alun Vaughan, who clocked in at 1hr 10min 31sec to qualify for next year’s London Marathon.

He finished ahead of fellow Harrier Brendan Rothery in second with 1hr 13min 56sec, with Lee Jones of Deeside Athletics Club also on the podium in 1hr 14min 33sec. Martin Green, of North Wales Road Runners, finished 16th in 1hr 21min 59sec.

The ladies race was won by Sarah Louise Cumber of Halifax Harriers, who clocked 1hr 23min 37sec ahead of Sarah Caskey (1hr 25min 40sec) and Lisa Grantham (City of Chester Tri, 1hr 28min 7sec).
