FORMER England international Simon Jones helped Glamorgan pick up their first Clydesdale T40 victory of the season against Durham at Colwyn Bay on Sunday.
Jones, 33, spearheaded the attack with four for 23 to help his side land a 15 run victory over their in-form opponents.
The Dragons put up a modest 163 all out in the 35th over, with opener Gareth Rees (28) and Jim Allenby (26) making the early scoring before Martin van Jaarsveld, Stewart Walters and Christopher Cooke bulked up the score from the middle order.
But three early wickets from Jones had Durham reeling on 44 for five, an despite a late rally from 122 for nine, Glamorgan saw off the challenge for a vital win. Allenby finshed on two for 25, with James Harris, Dean Cosker and Will Owen also taking wickets.
The victory provided a bright close to Glamorgan’s annual trip to Colwyn Bay, after their County Championship clash with Yorkshire was rained off.
