Llandudno 289 - 5
Menai Bridge 264 - 9
Winning draw for Llandudno
DESPITE a blistering knock of 154 from Australian import Nathan Shearer, Premiership pacesetters Menai Bridge had to settle for a losing draw against champions Llandudno.
Shearer took Menai Bridge to 264 for nine at the close, but it was not enough to overhaul Llandudno’s mammoth total of 289 for five.
Aled Williams was bowled LBW for 13, but fellow opener Steve Smith (120) and Jordan Kane’s (110) stand of 197 took Llandudno to their masssive total.
Menai’s bid for victory got off to a rocky start, with the loss of Luke Jones (two) and Robbie Jones, who was bowled out for a duck.
But Shearer and Robbie Creek took the Llandudno attack apart, before Creek was stumped for 58 with the total at 187 for three.
Gethin Roberts scored 20, but when Shearer was out for a run-a-ball knock, which included 22 fours and three sixes with the total at 237, the league leaders’ chances faded.
Menai Bridge ended the match 25 runs short of victory with a wicket in hand.
