Menai Bridge won by nine wickets

AUSSIE batsman Nathan Shearer produced a herculean 124 not out for Menai Bridge, who opened a 28 point gap at the top of Premier League.

Shearer hammered his second century of the season and fellow opener Luke Jones hit 95 as the pair destroyed the Connah's Quay bowling.

The visitors won the toss and decided to bat - with opener Richard Smith posting a superb 109 not out - and declared on 230 for five.

Shearer’s opening partnership with Luke Jones did the damage for the home side, with Jones posting 95 before he was bowled by Rob Bennet.

Menai Bridge will have a chance to test their championship mettle on Saturday, when they face current champions Llandudno at the Oval on Saturday (1pm).

Bangor 192 - 9
St Asaph 125 all out
Bangor won by 67 runs

BANGOR’s own Australian import Shane Mott also impressed as Bangor recovered from a frustrating few weeks with a win at struggling St Asaph.

Mott scored 55 runs, along with a strong showing from Colin Meek on 38, as Bangor reached 192 for nine.

The all rounder also showed his skill in attack with three for 28.

However, Iwan Roberts was the most successful bowler for Bangor with five for 15, with St Asaph all out for 125.

Fifth place Bangor will look for another victory at home to bottom side Pwllheli on Saturday (1pm).

St Asaph won by 39 runs

A CENTURY from Cefyn Owen led Division Three strugglers St Asaph Seconds to victory at Penrhos Farm.

Opener Kieran Lucas posted 37 as the visitors finished their innings on 175 for three.

Daniel Hilton (eight) and Chris Rowlands (10) could not set a strong foundation at the crease for Anglesey Aluminium, with Luke Edwards the highest scorer on 38, and the home side slumped to defeat.

Marchwiel & Wrexham 148 all out
Bodedern 150 - 4
Bodedern won by six wickets

MARCHWIEL would have hoped for better luck on a pitch noted as a batter’s paradise against Divison Three leaders Bodedern.

However, Gareth Hall led the charge for Bodedern with five for 46, Supported by Edward Gatsby with three for 11.

Gatsby also impressive with the bat, posting 75 not out. All rounder Gareth Thomas notched up 45 as Bodedern got the win in 36 overs.

Bodedern will face Connah’s Quay Second 11 at home on Saturday (1.30pm).

Bangor II 187 - 9
Llanrwst 98 all out
Bangor II won by 89 runs

Faisal Khan (35) and Andy Williams (31) were the architects, as Bangor Seconds reached 187 for 9 off 52 overs.

Llanrwst did not have such good fortune with the bat, as Jamie Davies (three for 29) and Humayun Afridi (three for 20) worked their way through the Llanrwst order.

The win leaves Bangor Seconds fourth in Division One, with 100 points.

Bethesda won by five wickets

ALED Jones and Robbie Creek cut through the Menai Bridge order with four for 66 and three for 28 respectively.

Opener Paul Jones (37) and Andy Skeoch (35) were the highest scorers for Menai Bridge Seconds, who reached 169 for nine after 43 overs.

Huw Pritchard and Dale Davies set the foundations for Pesda’s victory with 39 and 52 respectively.

Rhisiart Jones (33) and Jez Shea with six secured held out for the win, as Bethesda reached a winning score of 172 for five from 41 overs.

Mochdre 180 for 9

Mochdre won by 25 runs

MENAI Bridge bowler Andy Goodwin took four for 25 as Mochdre posted 180 for nine.

Openers Sion Whiley and Carl Wannop got the visitors off to a decent start with 57 and 24 respectively, but Mochdre bowler Andy Welden took four for 36, as Menai reached 155 for nine.

Llangollen 106 all out
Bethesda II 86 all out
Llangollen won by 20 runs

PESDA Seconds’ woes at the bottom of Division Four continued with an away defeat at Tower Field.

Luke Gardner (28) was the highest score for Llangollen, as three home batsmen were out for a duck, with Gareth Jones taking five for 36.

Pesda opener Rhys Pritchard (28) could not stem the tide, and the away side were all out for 86 after 24 overs.

Bodedern II 80 all out
Pwllheli 81 for 5
Pwllheli won by five wickets

IN DIVISION Five, Bodedern Seconds’ batsmen fell victim to Pwllheli spinner Glyn Hughes, who took five for 13 off 12 overs.

Bodedern fought to the end, but their bowlers could not stop the visitors from crossing the finish line on 81 for five, with 35 overs played.
