Division One

Caernarfon 48pts Mold 11pts

THE COFIS clinched the league title on Saturday with a comprehensive victory over the fourth placed North East Walians.

Third place Nant Conwy, the only team who could catch Caernarfon, blew their title hopes with a shock 12-8 reverse at second bottom Colwyn Bay.

Rhys Evans and Lance Owen grabbed two scores each for the home side, while Dylan Owen and Iolo Hughes also crossed over.

Fly-half Kelvin Morris was on top form with six conversions.

Steve Quinton notched up all the visitors' points, with a try and two penalty kicks.
Being league champions will feel all the sweeter for coach Ieuan Jones, having toppled Nant Conwy, who beat the Cofis to the championship for two years in a row.

Bethesda 27pts Pwllheli 17pts

PESDA capped a fantastic first season after promotion with a hard fought victory against their relegation-threatened visitors.

Pwllheli started strong, as Mike Hughes won a 50/50 ball and ran from his own 22 to touch down after four minutes.

Gethin Roberts notched up the conversion to give the away side a 0-7 lead.

The home side rallied with a period of pressure, and their forwards drove Paul Thomas for their first try.

Second row Dylan Owen grabbed Pesda's second try straight after the restart to make it 10-7.

Fly half Gareth Wyn Roberts pulled the strings to set up centre Dylan Roberts to make the half time score 15-7.

Pesda earned a bonus point after the restart through a well-worked score from Llion Lloyd.

Roberts added the conversion to make it 27-7.

Pwllheli were in no mood to roll over, however, and three minutes later Owain Thomas crossed over for a try, which was converted.

A Gethin Roberts penalty put Pwllheli to within a converted try of their hosts at 24-17.

However, Gareth Vaughan Roberts ran from the half way line to secure victory and Pesda's fifth try of the game.

The win was the icing on the cake for Pesda, who belittled pundits' relegation predictions to finish runners up.

Pesda also inflicted Caernarfon's only defeat of their championship-winning season.

Division Three

BOTTOM side Bangor recovered from a thumping loss against Dolgellau to notch up four tries in a 29-29 draw at Welshpool on Saturday.
