CONSTRUCTION work has started on an 80-bedroom Premier Inn.

The hotel near Holyhead will incorporate a restaurant, bar and parking for 84 vehicles.

Located off junction two of the A55, it will be the first Premier Inn on Anglesey and will create 20 full-time jobs.

Triton Construction Ltd will be on site for 42 weeks.

Robert Ware, chief executive of property investment and development group the Conygar Investment Company, said: “The start of construction reflects a successful collaboration between Welsh Government, Isle of Anglesey County Council, Anglesey Enterprise Zone, Premier Inn and Conygar.

"It demonstrates what can be achieved to bring jobs and prosperity to Anglesey by creating a vibrant hub for commerce and tourism.”

The hotel site is opposite Road King truck stop, an employment development site which is part of the Anglesey Enterprise Zone.

Neil Rowlands, chair of Anglesey Enterprise Zone Advisory Board and CEO of Tre-ysgawen Hall Country House Hotel and Spa, said: “This is yet another positive step for the economy on Anglesey.

"Parc Cybi is an excellent destination for business and leisure visitors alike.”

Isle of Anglesey County Council economic development and major projects portfolio holder Cllr Carwyn Jones said: “It is a great example of the work by private and public sector partners to secure economic growth on Anglesey.”
