A MAN has been taken to hospital by air ambulance following a blaze in a house in Bethesda.

The man, believed to be in his 50s, was rescued by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, today from a property in Coetmor Road. He is reported to be in a critical condition.

Fire crews from Bangor and Llanberis tackled and extinguished the first floor fire.

Gavin Roberts from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “A joint investigation into the cause of the fire will be carried out by North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and North Wales Police.

“Crews responded quickly to tackle the fire, and emergency services worked well together to attend to the casualty and manage the incident.”

A Wales Ambulance Service said: “We sent a Wales air ambulance, a crew in an emergency ambulance and two paramedics in rapid response vehicles to the fire, and a man was airlifted to the Royal Stoke University Hospital in a serious condition."
