A CANCER RESEARCH UK Superstore - the first of its kind in Wales - has been opened in Holyhead this morning.

Breast cancer survivor Jane Jones was on hand to cut the ribbon at a special ceremony held to unveil the new shop.

The superstore, which is more than five times the size of a normal Cancer Research UK shop, will offer a range of goods from bikes and books to furniture and appliances.

A special private room in the superstore will offer people the chance to phone the Cancer Research UK nurse helpline and will include seating, an iPad and a large TV screen.

Speaking at the grand opening on Tuesday, Jane Jones said: “Eleven years ago I was diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer and at that time there was no cure.

“However, because of Cancer Research UK I’m still here today and so I’m delighted to be able to be the one to cut the ribbon.”

Pupils from Ysgol Gymraeg Morswyn and their teacher Sion Pritchard provided some entertainment by singing songs outside the new store.

Cancer Research UK are now on the lookout for volunteers to help them run the shop.
