THE 2018 Jones Crisps Anglesey Half Marathon and 10k takes place next Sunday (March 4) with a record 2,300 runners expected to take part in the several events throughout the day.

The Half Marathon event, now in its eighth year, will start for 9am on the Menai Suspension Bridge.

The event showcases a spectacular part of Anglesey to the rest of the UK and has a reputation for being one of the most beautiful half marathon courses in the country.

The course is undulating and quick, and runners can expect stunning views across Snowdonia National Park and the Menai Straits around every corner.

The RibRide Dragon's Dash race will kick off at 9.20am.

This race is designed for junior runners and is a 1 mile sprint from the same start line as the adult races direct to the finish line in the Menai Bridge town centre.

Over 200 children from across North Wales are expected to participate in the race which is co- organised with the help of Anglesey County Council.

The final race of the day - the 10k event returns for its second year and will start at 9.40am from the bridge.

Runners will take their place on the iconic starting line before heading towards Beaumaris and turning back around and heading for the finish line which is situated in the centre of Menai Bridge.

Of course, if you don't fancy racing on the day, you can always visit to cheer on the competitors as they make their way around the course.

The event village will be bustling throughout with hot food and drink.

The following roads in Menai Bridge will be closed while the race is in progress: A5 Menai Suspension Bridge to Shell Garage 8.30am to 10.30am.

Beech Road, Water Street and George Street 8am to 10.30am.

A545 Anglesey Arms to Gallows Point 8.30am to 12.30pm.
