PARENTS on Anglesey are being offered the opportunity to join a free five-week family fitness session which will take place across the island during the New Year.

From January to March 2018, six locations on the island, Menai Bridge, Llangoed, Newborough, Bryngwran, Benllech and Amlwch, will play host to the event.

Together with a follow-on programme of family events at other locations during half term, the scheme is part of an initiative to encourage playful families and well-being.

Given that active adults will be inspired to provide active play for children, the fitness sessions are held at 9:30—10:30am to allow parents to take part after dropping off their older children at school.

The sessions will focus on yoga or fitness but will also include ideas for family activities indoor and in the open air.

The training will also incorporate one-to-one exercises for any parent or carer bringing a pre-school child with them to the sessions.

All the sessions will be hosted by the experienced and popular trainers Eirian Williams (fitness) and Leisa Mererid (yoga).

This Families First play project, delivered by the Isle of Anglesey County Council and supported by Menter Iaith Môn, will hold further family play activities at different locations during the Spring Half term holiday.

Because these free places are limited and are allocated on a first-come-first-serve basis, early booking is advisable through hanna@mentermon or 07703671265.
