CHILDREN across Gwynedd and Anglesey powered through the snowy conditions this week to dress up as their favourite fictional characters for World Book Day.
The 21st edition of the event held on Thursday, aimed to encouraged youngsters throughout the UK and Ireland to take an interest in reading by donning their favourite fancy dress costumes.
From Newborough to Bangor, the likes of Little Red Riding Hood and Willy Wonka joined in with the vast variation of colours and characters on display throughout the day.
Some schools in the region had to be closed due to the snow, but those that stayed open such as Ysgol Pentraeth on Anglesey gave their best efforts to celebrated World Book Day in style.
As always, the youngsters were given book tokens during the day.
These can be used to purchase one of ten new books available in certain stores as part of World Book Day celebrations.
